Old chinese leisure seal, grey-beige stone, with 7 characters as actual seal: 昂藏且放时人笑 ang zang qie fang shi ren xiao ( men laugh if they are courageous and free).
Long and detailed side engraving with signature.
16 x 16 x 84 m, 60 gram, fine condition.
Fang Quji 方去疾 (1922-2001) was an important seal carver. In 1947 he joined the Xiling-Seal Society 西泠印社. He is also famous for his calligraphy and his publications on ancient Chinese seals.
